ART 'ZINES
Collaboration between comic artist MIKEY McCARTLE and CHRIS WOO. Coincided with the opening of my first sonic photography show at Lestats in San Diego on April 4, 2003. I asked Mikey to draw frames for my photographs and published exactly what he submitted. All exclusive material from Mikey and all sonic photography from me, including images of the SUN CITY GIRLS, PERE UBU, HENRY GRIMES, DEREK BAILEY and GEORGE LEWIS, SIGHTINGS, THE DEAD C, THE RESIDENTS, NEON HUNK, MAMMAL, HELLA, HAIR POLICE, WOLF EYES, MEN'S RECOVERY PROJECT, STEPHEN MALKMUS, CATTLE DECAPITATION and ARAB ON RADAR. All photos are titled uniquely. Xeroxed and saddle-stitched in a convenient half-size format with a cream linen-textured cover. 20 pages of 5.5"x8.5". Collaboration between comic artist MATTT MONSTER and CHRIS WOO. Coincided with a collaborative art show between the two of us at Gelato Vera in San Diego for the month of February, 2006. I exhibited all portrait photography while Mattt showed some comic drawings. My idea for this 'zine was to tear up some of these portraits in interesting ways and have Mattt fill in the blanks. No titles, but you some of those photographed for source material included musicians CHARLES CURTIS, BRIAN MILLER (ROSE FOR BOHDAN, DEATHBOMB ARC Records), JACK ROSE, ANDY BRACK (DEATH STAB, DEAD WHITE), TARA BARNES (BUSINESS LADY, DURGA), WILSON DROZDOWSKI (SWITCH BITCH, DUCHESSES), DAN BRYANT (SKATERS, CASTANETS), RON LESSARD (EMIL BEAULIEAU, RRRecords), DAVID WIGHTMAN (EXTREME ANIMALS, FORTRESS OF AMPLITUDE), authors ZACK WENTZ ("The Garbageman and the Prostitute"), CHRIS KRAUS ("I Love Dick") and other people (or parts thereof). 14 pages at 8.5"x11".
